The Special Package for Acquiring Competence in English. SPACE has been a unique intervention undertaken by TREIS in collaboration with Dr. K.N. Anandan during the years 2014 to 2017 for empowering teachers and students in English. The students are expected to engage themselves in multiple language activities individually and in collaboration with others both inside and outside the classroom. They are also expected to produce different genres of oral and written discourses in English. When SPACE was launched in TRIES schools, these activities became mandatory in the backdrop of the recent changes in the examination pattern, which assesses the language skills and conceptual understanding of the learners rather than their ability to reproduce information in the textbooks.
As part of launching the SPACE programme in its schools TREI Society has been conducting school level, district level and state level creative workshops and SPACE English fests since 2015 with a view to providing a platform for the students to show case their multiple talents.
